                                                                      Cold but Happy

Many of you know that my daughter (Jen) and son (Ben) are in Ghana, Africa.  They are coming home soon, and I will be overjoyed to see them, but I also understand that their time in Ghana has been beneficial for them as well as the people of this region. You may be interested in reading about their adventures:

Snowy Evening

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
                                                      His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here

To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sounds the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

'Wouldn't it be Loverly'

A late winter evening snow provided a beautiful heavy white canopy and at least one more opportunity to cross country ski.  However, with temperatures of 50 degrees predicted for Sunday we should be back on the water before March roars in next week.

Strange Seasons

'Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each.'   ~Thoreau

Perhaps it's global warning, or just time for a mild winter but winter in Iowa this year has been more like a prolonged spring.  The lake already has patches of open water;  I'm curious when the wildflowers will bloom....and, I'm thankful I'm cleared to kayak.

Soft Fog in Winter Woods

[HD]Sheep Herding Dog

This is figures that the dog is a Portuguese Water Dog.  Everyday is a party when you're a PWD; this sheep is pretty funny too.  I didn't know they could run that fast!
