Flower Girl

It is late June in Iowa, and it is hot.  Early this morning I returned from a walk around the lake and stopped by the grocery store before heading home.  I'd enjoyed the warm morning breeze and was thinking how lucky I was - when I was confronted with an unhappy clerk who had an endless list of all the reasons she despised the weather and planned to have an awful day enduring the heat.
Well, it IS getting warm....but I am still enjoying the day, and hope the clerk has changed her mind.  Like Jen, 'the flower girl', says "it's all about your attitude".
Hope you're enjoying the weather!

Niagra Falls...

Niagra Falls!...slowly I turn, step, by step...

Nik Wallenda plans to walk a tightrope across Niagra Falls this evening, from the American side of the falls to the Canadian side.  At night. On a slippery cable. Over a massive amount of moving water.  Visiting the Falls last week I was again impressed with the energy and power. Well, Good Luck Mr. Wallenda.  Even I'm not that crazy.

Mended Wings Mixed Tandem

Official results are in - thanks, Eric.  Not bad for two gimps 4 months out of surgery.

Ready for Ragbrai

Somebody That I Used To Know - Pentatonix (Gotye cover)

Luke showed me this youtube video last year, and with all the great music on our recent Road Trip I was reminded of it again. The harmony and emotion is haunting.  I look forward to additional videos and performances from this group.  I also hope the songwriter's next arrangement is a happy song.
BTW - interesting the 'Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep' melodic phrase embedded in the tune.

Sometimes I Feel Like a Rudderless Child...

Today was a beautiful day with blue skies and white billowy clouds; but with gusty winds out of the WNW it was unfortunate that my rudder cable decided to break.  I bought the boat used from Charles River Canoe and Kayak in Boston, so we speculate that it was previously used in salt water judging by the cable wire corrosion.  Happily it broke at a convenient time, with friends to assist and a comrade with cable-fixing skills.  Life is good.

Life would be even better if there were places for kayakers to park. :)

There are always treasures to be found on the beach - in this case a soft ball!
